Established by René Santhagens in 1910, Oude Molen is South Africa’s foremost independent distillery.
Santhagens acquired his distilling skills in Cognac. Shortly after arriving at the Cape, he founded Oude Molen and soon earned a reputation as a true perfectionist. In 1924, lawmakers enshrined his distilling methods in law, and they still define Cape Brandy’s quality standards.
Today, the estates range of Cape Brandy remains internationally renowned for being the ultimate expression of a fruit-forward, expertly aged brandy from the southern tip of Africa.
