Celebrate Grandparents’ Day with an adventure in the Hottentots Holland mountains. On Sunday, 4 October 2026, one grandparent can fly free for every paying grandchild, with the grandparent paying only the R100 conservation levy instead of the usual R1,275 tour fare.
The Cape Canopy Tour includes 13 platforms, a suspension bridge over a double waterfall and zipline rides of up to 320 metres. A safari-style 4×4 takes guests into the mountains, while two guides manage the technical equipment and safety checks.
There is no upper age limit, and the oldest Cape Canopy Tour guest to date was 93. The minimum age is five, with children aged five to nine riding tandem with a guide.
The tour ends with an approximately 1 km uphill walk out of the gorge over uneven ground, so guests should consider their mobility before booking. Warm layers and comfortable closed shoes with good grip are recommended.
Booking: The Grandparents’ Day offer is available on Sunday, 4 October 2026 only and must be booked by phone in advance. The discount cannot be applied to online bookings, added retrospectively or refunded afterwards. Subject to availability.
Getting there: Cape Canopy Tour is in the Elgin Valley near Grabouw, approximately an hour from Cape Town via Sir Lowry’s Pass. Transfers from a central Cape Town pickup point are also available for a minimum of two guests.
